Crocheted pouch

I’m working really hard to finish the last big school project, a crocheted tunic. And I curse myself for the intricate design. Of course, a simple thing would be boring and not a chellenge enough, but honestly I’m tired of it. And yet again, I need to unweave a part of it, because I’m not totally satisfied with it. Aargh!

So I decided to take a break and share with you a completed project. It’s a small crocheted pouch, designed and made by me.

This picture is my starting point and inspiration. The aim was to translate the feeling of the image into tapestry crochet pattern and create a balanced composition within the limits of technique.

My esthetics is not overly colourful and bright, so I restricted myself to four colours, base colour + pattern colours.

For crocheting I used 10/2 (2-ply fingering weight) woolen yarn and 1,5 mm (6 in US chart and 2,5 in English chart) crochet needle. The pouch has a rounded base 10 cm in diameter and is 21 cm in height. The top edge is finished with picot stitch. For fastening the pouch I made a 3-colour twisted cord.

If you like the design and would like to make a pouch for yourself, grab the free pattern here!

I would like to see your pouches! Share the images on Instagram, using #omailmpattern.

Back to my tunic,
